Plinth is the base on which all critical turntable parts like motor, bearing and tone arm, are mounted. In order to allow for maximum performance of mentioned parts working simultaneously, plinth or housing should be of the highest quality.
Turntable plinth has a very complex duty - it should provide a stable base, dump vibrations coming from the motor and not let them reach the tone-arm or bearing, and at the same time, dump all vibrations coming from the shelf on which the turntable stands.

It doesn't matter if the plinth is classically designed, as box with out cover, or it is just like skeleton, it should still be of highest quality.

Many commercial turntables suffer from poor plinth design, leading to poor performance and diminishing the quality of other turntable parts.
